Hey there!

I'm Neal Robert Young.

Thanks for taking a look at my work.

Hey there, I'm Neal. I love photography, but hopefully that much is obvious. Here are some other fun facts about me:

  • I flew to Korea at 12am the same day I graduated with a degree in theatre from UNH. I performed as Oberon in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Graduate Institute of Peace Studies, Kyung Hee University, just a few miles from the DMZ. We woke in the morning to monks chanting in the courtyard, followed by booming Korean hip hop in the hallways. Your standard wake up call. We were told that tunnels dug from North Korea were likely right below us.

  • Spent the next 10 years as a starving actor in LA, where I studied at the Groundlings and ACME Comedy Theatre, doing improv and sketch comedy. I also spent a zillion hours waiting tables. There are too many funny stories to tell about my life in the service biz - one day I’ll pour my favorites into a one-man show.

  • I once got to sit in Adam Sandler's actor's chair, strumming Don Cheadle's guitar while waiting to go on set for my one and only break in a movie. (Bonus Points if you can figure out the film.)

  • I'm married to a hilarious and beautiful woman who runs her own business and also photographs weddings with me. I have a daughter, step daughter, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a partridge in a pear tree. My wife’s rear window is riddled with stick-figure decals. I'm a touch insane and would be OK with adding more :-)

  • My favorite places on earth are Muddy Cove in Onset, Pine Hill Waldorf in Wilton, and wherever I find myself with family.

  • I dream of building a tree house in our back yard just like the ones made on Tree House Masters. (My favorite coffee table book is all tree houses.)

  • I thought I had experienced every emotion in the world until the first time my daughter came running to me across a store aisle, calling out "Dadda, Dadda!!" I grew taller, nodded at my fellow shoppers and thought, Yep, that's right, you’re in the company of a super hero. This thought was soon followed by the realization that, “Dadda” is completely at the mercy of his tiny, all-powerful Elsie. And he couldn’t be luckier.
